On a blustery afternoon in East Lansing, Mich., fans at Spartan Stadium saw MSU return home for a non-conference tussle against the BYU Cougars. The Spartans couldn’t overcome the injuries on defense and dropped their third straight game by a score of 31-14.
MSU (2-2, 0-2 Big Ten) returned home following a loss to Indiana and was greeted in a nonconference affair with BYU (2-3, Independent). At the half, MSU leads the Cougars carried through the half by defensive stops and an impressive first drive. That first drive saw the Spartans execute 15 plays and take 7:03 of the clock, the longest drive numbers of the season for MSU in those categories.

MSU head coach Mark Dantonio didn’t have a whole lot to say following MSU football’s overtime defeat at the hands of the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday night. He defended his players as much as he could and restated that the program has been very successful and has an expectation to come out and perform better.
MSU graduate transfer Ben Carter suffered a knee injury over the weekend, according to MSU Athletic Communications. The injury has not yet been specified for the 6-foot-9 forward, but will require surgery.
