Napster shouldnt be taken away from us
College students and free music junkies everywhere are in a state of panic. Napster’s days seem numbered after Monday’s court ruling.

In response to state Rep. Sandy Cauls letter on her legislation of kegs (Keg legislation will save lives, SN 2/8), I would like to clarify certain incidents she is using as her defense. First off, the tragedy of Bradley McCues death was a result of binge drinking, where he consumed more than five drinks in one sitting.
I would just like to share one small fact with Drew Olson (Bush should not be our president, SN 2/9), and the several hundred other students on this campus who are frustrated over the presidential election.
Regarding Erin Schwartzs excellent Feb. 9 column (Drug war has turned into race, class conflict), the drug wars early beginnings are rooted in a race and class conflict. The drug war is mainly a war on marijuana, by far the most popular illicit drug.
This is in response to Erin Schwartzs Feb. 9 column titled Drug war has turned into race, class conflict. Ethnic cleansing is criticized around the world - from Adolf Hitler to Slobodan Milosevic - but it is practiced daily with the Drug Enforcement Administrations drug war.
Monday morning on my way to class, I had a very close encounter with the Red Cedar River. The Brody path that I - and the majority of people living in the Brody Complex - use to get to class was flooded over.
While Napster is a haven for money-strapped music lovers, a shut down of the service would be understandable. The 9th U.S.
ASMSU should not be focusing its efforts on breaking the tuition guarantee, but should work to get rid of the funding gap instead. ASMSUs Academic Assembly passed a measure last Tuesday to recommend the Board of Trustees alter MSUs tuition guarantee, and the proposal recommends tuition increases for the next four years be held to the rate of inflation plus 2 percent. ASMSU is the universitys undergraduate student government. The tuition guarantee, instituted in 1994, states increases in tuition will not exceed the projected rate of inflation or consumer price index. This proposal could be detrimental to many students who struggle to pay for college with tuition rates as they are.
After reading Drew Olsons opinion (Bush should not be our president, SN 2/9), I thought I should give Olson a small history lesson on who Al Gore, Bill Clinton and the Democratic Party really stand for. Clinton, Gore and the Democratic National Committee have carried out the equivalent of a full-swing baseball bat to your head.
When reading The State News Opinion Page on Feb. 9, I read Drew Olsons response to a letter supporting President Bush (Bush should not be our president, SN 2/9). To my dismay I noticed that Olson stated, I was in Washington on Inauguration Day to let him know he is not my president. I ask, then, with this statement has Olson denounced citizenship in the United States?
I hate going home. No, I didnt have some sort of falling out with my parents or some other little personal sob story that Im going to subject you all to.
Upon reading Sandy Cauls article about keg legislation (Keg legislation will save lives, SN 2/8), I must agree the bill in question would restrict the availability of alcohol to minors.
This letter is a response to the article on Red Bull nutrient drink, published in The State News on Feb.
Im sure when you light up that pipe full of fresh new buds from the guy next door, who knew some kid in Colorado, who got stuff vacuum-sealed from Afghanistan, you didnt think you were participating in a war. No, of course not. Your actions of drug use are only to bring peace into the world and produce a bond amongst friends, right?
After reading Jessica Meyers column on George W. Bush I felt absolutely compelled to respond to her supportive statements of the president (Bush is president - he deserves a chance, SN 2/8). First and foremost, to say Bush is the type of citizen who personifies the United States is absurd.
While it is understandable for Olin Health Center not to offer the abortion pill RU-486, the center should at least consider providing the pill.Last week, Yale University announced RU-486 would be offered in its campus health center as part of the standard health plan for students.
I am responding to Brian Emerson Jones column (Bushs memorandum can be felt worldwide, SN 2/7). I have only read the first two paragraphs and already feel it necessary to write this letter.
Im writing in response to the letter written by state Rep. Sandy Caul, (Keg legislation will save lives SN 2/8). I am a student here at MSU, and I cant believe the things I am hearing.
In case you hadnt noticed, Jan. 20 did not mark the end of modern civilization - so please stop acting like it. For good, or - to some - arguably for ill, George W.
Cheating should not be tolerated at MSU and professors should make a concerted effort to find and punish cheaters.A recent study conducted by Rutgers University Professor Don McCabe said 72 percent of college students admitted to purchasing or using a professionally written paper.
