Suspicious sign

Obviously, dance clubs like Sparty's Night Club have hired some pretty inept advertisers. Here's a suggestion to make the sign outside of Sparty's more concise and applicable to its customers' apparel: WHITES ONLY, AND WE DON'T MEAN T-SHIRTS. The sign outside of Sparty's announces that the dress code prohibits anyone wearing FUBU, Sean John and Phat Farm clothes, along with "work boots" and "thick gold or silver chains." All three clothing brands are owned by and worn mainly by minorities. So what is Sparty's trying to say?

It's only been four months since he was elected to the state Senate, but Virg Bernero already has begun to sing a different tune when it comes to dealing with Michigan's tobacco-settlement dollars. The bottom line is this - sex sells. The Dollar Nightclub and "Girls Gone Wild" were just supplying what is demanded with last night's event, especially near a college campus - sex. And everybody deserves to make a buck.

Terror alert editorial right on the money

I was pleasantly surprised by the editorial on the national terrorism alert system ("Terror propaganda," SN 2/11). I wholeheartedly agree the system is nothing but fear-inducing propaganda masterminded by the Bush administration war machine. The system is an insult to the people of this country for two reasons.
