Peace Team biased toward Palestine
In regard to Mike McCurdy ("Peace Team motive misrepresented" SN 4/8), I believe he misses the point.

Was the intelligence "actionable" or "historical"? If you actually know the truth, by all means, share with the rest of the class.
Michigan State's debate team argued its way to first place in the national championship this month, and students on campus need to realize how cool that is. The team is basking in the glory of its win in the 58th National Debate Tournament on April 5 at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
In response to Dave Sommers' letter "Nader votes dash hopes for Kerry" (SN 4/6), I'd like to point out that a vote for Ralph Nader is just that - a vote for Ralph Nader.
A guy I know just killed his first Iraqi insurgent. Actually, he killed two, maybe three. He has been stationed in Baghdad since February and since all hell broke loose in Iraq two weeks ago, he's been in the middle of a fire fight.
As Pinto and Flounder step inside the Delta house for the first time in "Animal House," they negotiate - among many things - drunken party goers resplendent in togas, an empty keg tossed through a glass window and empty beer bottles aimed at their heads. Granted, this is a dramatization that many homes in East Lansing consciously try to recreate on a weekly basis, but it's still a movie.
Totally Takeout has been the answer for many students who couldn't make it to eat at the cafeteria due to their busy schedules, studies or late-night classes. It also has been the source for a quick bite before or during classes.
As I read your article last week on the history of rioting within East Lansing, I couldn't help being quite angered "Darkest Night" (SN 3/30). In no way am I condoning the violence, but where is the justice and media coverage from the students' point of view? To begin with, how about the decline in the value of education we receive at MSU?
After the infamous Janet Jackson chest exposure on national television, suddenly Victoria's Secret wants to be a little more secretive, but its shyness isn't necessary.
I have attempted to come up with a small list of items I wish to never see in The State News again. These are just a few things that, if changed, could really make The State News a more enjoyable source of both entertainment and information. First, why does The State News always seem to publish a huge article about our riotous past every year?
I find it enormously hypocritical of The State News to criticize Paul Hornung's statements regarding race and academics ("Athletic bigots" 4/2), especially when The State News itself professes an ideology which is identical.
After months of secrecy, closed-door meetings and on-the-hush debate, it finally has happened - MSU and the city of Grand Rapids have reached a compromise on how to divide the College of Human Medicine unequally between the two locations.
I am sorry Janelle Jennifer Jordan's sensibilities were upset by the publication of a picture of the mutilated bodies of two "civilian" employees of the private security firm Blackwater Security Consulting in The State News ("Graphic picture doesn't belong in SN" SN 4/7). However, I think it is very appropriate that the American public is allowed to see the results of the invasion of Iraq in all their raw, unpleasant details. It is fair that Jordan feel disgusted and appalled, but perhaps her indignation is better spent considering the policies that brought about the deaths of these men, rather than blaming the media that allowed her to see something so unpleasant. I, for one, applaud The State News for fulfilling its journalistic obligations, especially when so many other media outlets failed. John Brazier 1989 graduate
Several bills that would make marriage counseling mandatory before two people are allowed to wed would give the legislature authority over love. State Rep.
Typical of many policies pushed by cultural conservatives and the religious right, the proposed amendment to the U.S.
I'm sorry that Janelle Jennifer Jordan feels that The State News was unethical in its decision to display such graphic pictures ("Graphic picture doesn't belong in SN" SN 4/7). However, war is ugly and horrible.
ASMSU, MSU's undergraduate student government, enacted an un-ironically titled Candy Initiative on Wednesday to provide its business offices with sweets for workers and students.
There have been a series of letters concerning the actions of the Michigan Peace Team in their protection of the houses of alleged suicide bombers, the most radical of which belonged to Stephen Bogdanski ("Perez puts himself in the violent middle" SN 4/6). I share the deep revulsion for the actions of terrorists against the citizens of Israel.
I would like to thank The State News for keeping the longest thread of opinions on one subject in the history of print media.
How are we to relate our nation's deep religious roots - both in the creation of the U.S. Constitution and the deep faith of compassion, love and tolerance - with our foreign policy in the Middle East? Have we moved away from the guiding principles of our founding fathers and away from the true meaning of faith? For decades, the enigmatic problem of the Middle East has manifested itself into a brutal war between Israelis and Palestinians, while we sit helplessly watching the horror unfold in the media.
