Walking, biking far surpass using cars
I wholeheartedly disagree with the complaint of the student who tried to "inform" the campus road biker about the traffic problem he was causing.

I've been aware of the Michigan sex offender database for years, but like most people, I've never looked at it that closely.
While I applaud the efforts of MSU to reduce binge drinking and sexual assaults on campus, the recent articles regarding tailgating restrictions leave many questions unanswered.
MSU is planning to build a new parking ramp on Grand River Avenue between Morrill Hall, Olin Health Center and the Human Ecology Building.
North Korea is upset, and the United States needs to do something to repair our relationship with the country, regardless of who is right. It's time for the United States to get down on its knees because, in the nuclear-weapon relationship game, you can't just make up later. With North Korea publicly boasting on Thursday that it has "nukes," and with peace talks nonexistent, we need to give up the stubborn, tough guy act and start playing to North Korea's interests.
With tuition for college students continuously rising, it was a wonderful feeling to know Gov. Jennifer Granholm put on her cape to save the day.
I am writing in response to "Everyone needs to follow traffic rules" (SN 2/9). As both a cyclist and a motorist, I believe it is essential for all road users to know and obey traffic rules. I applaud cyclists who exercise their right to ride on the street.
5:50 p.m. Must check LiveJournal. It's been almost one whole hour since I've been on. What if one of my friends has updated?
The loss of Dr. Gill-Chin Lim is a tremendous loss to the MSU community, as well as the world community.
I was angered by Jeff Granat calling himself a fan in his opinion letter ("Fan disappointed with season so far" SN 2/4). Instead of calling himself a fan, he should instead refer to himself as a fair-weather fan.
This is in response to the article "Cultural understanding through campus 'families'" (SN 2/10). In the wonderful six years I spent at MSU, the issue of racial segregation always existed.
I am writing in support of Alicia Ratterree, whose article, "ASMSU tax increase a needless addition" (SN 2/7), addresses the waste of ASMSU.
In reference to the "No Smoking" editorial, (SN 2/8), you don't get it.
Although I am probably opposed to the particular tax increase ASMSU is proposing - due to concerns such as a lack of criteria regarding the scholarship it will set up - I'm not totally opposed to the theory behind it. Having students pay an extra $3 a semester ($24 in their whole college career, on the four year plan) is not much to ask for - I spend more on a tank of gas.
How do you make one of the fattest states in the union trim its waistline? Apparently by sitting it down at a computer and having it take health quizzes. Last week, Michigan launched a free interactive Web site (michiganstepsup.org) geared towards teaching people how to make healthy choices.
The MSU Board of Trustees has been discussing some pressing issues regarding campus design lately. Namely, restructuring of the intersection that surrounds Sparty and erecting a parking ramp near Morrill Hall, with an entrance leading in from Grand River Avenue.
Please tell me you believe the following thesis to be correct: Preventing a death from cancer is more important than a firm penis. Women's health care is often a banner picked up by liberal folks but, regardless of political bent, I would like to call your attention to the fact that starting next January, Medicare will cover Viagra, Cialis (apparently they weren't deterred by the lackluster Super Bowl ad) and other drugs for erectile dysfunction.
This letter is in response to Jenny Gallo's letter complaining about the bicyclist in the middle of the road ("Everyone needs to follow traffic rules," SN 2/9). First, I will agree with her that the person should not have been in the middle of the road.
A point of clarification on Jordan Rash's letter complaining that campus apartments are not coed and assuming that gay and lesbian partners have some special privilege of living together, "Trustees need to allow coed living" (SN 2/9). No such rule exists.
This is in response to the article, "Officials: Marijuana becoming socially accepted locally" (SN 2/8). The fact, as I see it, is marijuana has always been socially acceptable in a large part.
