Mich. to move up in presidential primary line

Michigan will be one of the first states in the country to hold its presidential primary in 2008 — for now. Gov. Jennifer Granholm signed a bill on Tuesday approving a move to change Michigan’s primary date from Feb. 26 to Jan. 15, placing the vote behind Iowa and New Hampshire’s scheduled primaries.

When Erin Degroote moved to MSU she became part of a student body of more than 45,000, but she had a smaller community to call her home. The Residential College in the Arts and Humanities freshman is one of about 120 students who will witness the beginning of the major and college housed in the new addition between Snyder and Phillips halls.

ASMSU reviews year's budget, tailgate policy

ASMSU’s Student Assembly discussed finalizing tailgate details, reviewing the 2007-08 budget, electing internal positions and discussing a plan to send Virginia Tech a memorial flag at its first meeting of the school year Thursday evening.

Stabbing victim said he joked about suspect

An ordinary night at the bar nearly turned deadly for Ryan Noel. Noel, a 23-year-old Lansing resident, testified Friday at a preliminary hearing at 54-B District Court that 29-year-old East Lansing resident Frank DeWayne West attacked him outside Reno’s East Side Sportsbar & Grill, 1310 Abbott Road, more than two weeks ago.

Flooding after rain creates headaches

While the heavy rain that pounded East Lansing Aug. 24 sent many students running for cover, it brought an unexpected nuisance for Katie Ault. About an inch of water had flooded the social work senior’s apartment.
