Students unlikely to support Bloomberg

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has his own TV network, billions of dollars and an entire city to run. But while many political analysts have speculated Bloomberg could make a run for the presidency, it doesn’t appear MSU students would help him get into the Oval Office.

Museum celebrates state's birthday

Museum volunteers dressed as European soldiers, past Michigan senators and immigrants toting suitcases were among those celebrating Statehood Day on Saturday at the Michigan Historical Museum, 702 W. Kalamazoo St., in Lansing.

Art gives outlet to autistic

MSU students, faculty and staff with children who fall within the autism spectrum met Saturday at The Art Museum at MSU, inside Kresge Art Center, to work on arts and crafts that a local coffee shop will display in March.

Police Brief 01/25/08

A dark blue Nokia cell phone was stolen from a student sometime between 11:55 p.m. Monday and 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Brody Hall cafeteria, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Finding a helping hand isn’t always easy for students, which is why the MSU Counseling Center is extending its reach further than it has in previous years. Before fall, appointments to see a counselor could take up to a few weeks to make.

Spartans extend winning streak to 3 games

A Northwestern team known for its 3-point shooting had its greatest strength countered Thursday. The MSU men’s basketball team, which had made the fewest 3-point baskets in the Big Ten, buried 8-of-9 long balls in the first half and went on to shoot 11-for-17 from beyond the arc in a 78-62 win over the Wildcats at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The time has come. It’s a rivalry of epic proportion. MSU versus Michigan is one of the most heated and famous encounters in college hockey. Throw in the fact that U-M hockey is No. 1 in the country and that raises the ante for this weekend’s home-and-home series

He’s been to a Final Four, swatted his way to the top of the MSU all-time blocks list and is pursuing a doctoral degree in finance. But ask fifth-year senior center Drew Naymick how he feels about his portfolio and he’ll say it’s incomplete.

Study abroad fair moves to stadium

After 11 years at the Union, the Office of Study Abroad changed venues for its annual spring study abroad fair, holding the event at LaSalle Bank Club in the Spartan Stadium tower Thursday.
