At the last Board of Trustees meeting, an MSU trustee suggested holding a special meeting to discuss voting on releasing the long-withheld Nassar documents. Now, the board is silent on whether that meeting will take place.
Despite MSU's commitment that active violent intruder training would become mandatory following the Feb. 13 shooting, the training has yet to be finished and its completion will be made optional. The choice not to require the training was influenced by feedback from the community concerned with the emotional impact the training could have on traumatized individuals.
The Council of Racial and Ethnic Students and the Council of Progressive Students voted ‘no confidence’ in the Board of Trustees, calling for the board to cease internal conflict and instead release the Nassar documents.
"The lack of attention given by MSU officials has led to isolation, mental distress and anxiety amongst Black and Brown students who feel as though they don’t matter, nor are valued in a space that should be safe for them," the statement said.
"The loss of life around the world is deeply disturbing, (with) the impact on Palestinians, on Jews, on Arabs, on Israelis and on Muslims," Woodruff said. "We cannot … resolve the crisis of Gaza and the Middle East in this room. But I do believe we can and we must collaborate on support, on resources, education, dialogue and ultimately, the safety of our community."
The Associated Students of MSU voted no confidence in the MSU Board of Trustees following recent controversy and dysfunction among trustees. This bill, passed on Nov. 2, is ASMSU's second vote of no confidence in the board in just over a year.

Michigan State University has fired Brendan Doyle, the kinesiology instructor whose students connected him to a 2020 Louisiana meth lab. According to personnel records, Doyle was fired for “unprofessional behavior” and repeated absences from his class.

Michigan State University’s faculty senate moved to file a report with the school’s accreditor alerting them to conduct of embattled board chair Rema Vassar which they believe could jeopardize accreditation. The resolution also called for Vassar’s resignation, and said that if she refuses, the other trustees should vote her out as chair and call on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to completely remove her from the board.
