The East Lansing City Council is considering stricter regulations for taxi and ride-sharing services. At the council's meeting Tuesday night, they also discussed implementing a meter service inside taxi cars.

Shoppers lined up outside the entrance Saturday morning at Eastwood Towne Center, anxiously waiting for the store’s grand opening at 10 a.m. The first 1,000 customers were given a free T-shirt. The Apple Store offers free workshops to customers so they can learn how to get the best use out of their Apple product, and those who need repairs can bring their product to the store for technical support.
Lansing resident Anthony Shearer will not be charged in connection with the Spartan Stadium bomb threat that occurred on July 2.Shearer appeared in 54B District Court today and Judge Andrea Larkin found there was no evidence suggesting Shearer knew his girlfriend, Cynthia Spade, was going to call in a bomb threat.
East Lansing City Manager George Lahanas BW said the property at Albert Avenue and Abbot Road will most likely be replaced with an office building, the area east of Valley Court Park will be replaced with a residential building and parking ramp and the location between Abbot Road and Evergreen Avenue will possibly be replaced by a residential building for senior citizens.
The yoga-inspired, athletic apparel chain, Lululemon Athletica, opened a showroom in East Lansing over the weekend.The showroom will act as a smaller version of the regular store. Nina Gardner, the community relations representative for Lululemon Athletica and a MSU alumna, said the store will still sell everything it does in the regular stores but in a smaller amount because of limited space.
A proposal is currently being considered by City Council, which would require one percent of the total cost of new developments in the area to be set aside for public art.The private sector component of the ordinance would require private developments costing $500,000 or more to pay an equivalent of one percent of the total cost of the development, which would be no more than $25,000.mr
The MSU Museum is bringing culture outdoors this weekend for the Great Lakes Folk Festival. Taking place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in downtown East Lansing, the event is produced by MSU Museum’s Michigan Traditional Arts Program.
