The Equality Act: The bill that seeks protections for LGBTQ+ community stems from Michigan support

The Equality Act seeks to amend current longstanding legislation in order to fill that gap by amending the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include protections against discrimination when it comes to employment, housing, education, the jury system, federally funded programs, credit and public accommodations and facilities. Michigan representatives are some of the sponsors of this amendment.

MSU student groups demand university acknowledge Palestinian students, provide resources

Several MSU student groups released a statement calling on the board and administration to acknowledge safety concerns and publicly apologize to Arab and Muslim students. The statement also provides detailed demands that the university provide academic accommodations and mental health resources for affected students and protect students' right to free speech and privacy.

Sole finalist for MSU presidency 'weighing' decision

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz is weighing leaving his current position to become president of Michigan State University, according to a statement provided to The News & Observer. Guskiewicz is the sole remaining finalist after the other dropped out Wednesday evening.

Lansing poll finds higher need for public safety

This past October, the city of Lansing conducted one of their semi-annual city council election polls to get a pulse on local issues and what constituents want to see from elected officials. Public safety was polled as the largest issue for residents.
