Fraternity hosts fundraiser with puppies at The Rock on Farm Lane

Spread across the grass near The Rock on Farm Lane, students could be seen playing with 6-week-old puppies, and donating to a good cause in doing so.   On Friday, Pi Kappa Phi fraternity hosted a fundraiser called "The Puppy Experience." The fraternity charged $3 for five minutes and $5 for ten minutes with the puppies. Money raised will go to the fraternity's national philanthropy, The Ability Experience. The philanthropy works to support people with disabilities.

Gigi's Cupcakes opens shop in East Lansing

Near South Neighborhood, the latest location of a nationwide franchise with a unique back-story opened its doors. Gigi’s Cupcakes opened on Trowbridge Road across from Fresh Thyme Farmer’s Market and MSU’s South Neighborhood in East Lansing.ch Gigi’s is a national baking franchise that began in 2008 “just off music row,” in Nashville, Tenn.

Checking in on students' New Year's resolutions

As spring blooms through the stubborn Michigan cold and April enters its midway point, there is one thing that by now, many students have forgotten — their New Year’s resolution. According to the University of Scranton, 24 percent of people do not finish their New Year’s resolution. Now, four months into the year, The State News took to the streets of MSU to ask Spartans how they’re holding up with their own New Year’s resolutions. Ly said he felt his resolution was pretty common — working out and getting in shape.
