MSU sues Department of Energy over proposed cuts to research funding

Michigan State University, alongside three organizations and eight other universities, is suing the U.S. Department of Energy, arguing a recent policy that caps the amount of money the university is given for research grants is illegal. The Rate Cap Policy sets a standardized indirect cost rate for all grant awards to universities at 15%.

A week at MSU, by the numbers

There are many ways to measure the size of Michigan State University. In an attempt to better illustrate the magnitude of the university, The State News spent weeks collecting data from MSU spokespeople, organizations, annual reports, university webpages and previous reporting. The result is a collection of over 100 statistics showing what happens during an average week on campus, from the number of blueberry bagels delivered to dining halls to the number of students reported for academic misconduct.
