2026 Oscars sparks discussion about students' interest in award shows

On Sunday, March 15, the 98th Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, will take place in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The Oscars is a prestigious, annual awards ceremony that celebrates and honors achievements in the film industry. Categories range from ‘Actor in a Leading Role’ to ‘Film Editing’. Popular nominations this year include ‘Marty Supreme’, which has a total of nine nominations, and ‘Sinners’, with a total of 16 nominations. However, statistics show that Generation Z is less likely to tune in to the live showing of award shows in general, compared to other generations. Instead, they are more likely to find other avenues to express their interest.

Colleges of Human Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine will merge, president says

Michigan State University will consolidate the College of Human Medicine and College of Osteopathic Medicine into a unified college of medicine. The announcement was made earlier today by MSU President Kevin Guskiewicz, and follows over a year of discussion and research after the merger was first brought to the floor by Guskiewicz as part of his “One Team, One Health” initiative in February 2025.

A Michigan State University student is alleging that a dangerous obstruction on MSU’s campus led to an accident while she was a passenger on an athletics department golf cart. The student sustained injuries to her right hand while on a golf cart that collided with a stone pillar in front of Campbell Hall.
