Letter from MSU Professor: My regrets on not voting

I have never regretted a vote that I have cast. Almost 50 years later, I bitterly regret the one vote I did not cast. The election of 1968 occurred in a country riven by the Vietnam War. Ultimately, almost 60,000 Americans died, more than 150,000 were wounded, more than two million Vietnamese, Cambodians, Laotians and others died.

I’m tired. I’m stressed out. I’m ready for Election 2016 to be over. I know you are too. But now is the last time to get complacent...there is way too much at stake. We’ve dealt with “the Donald” being a candidate for well over a year now, but the end is now in sight.

East Lansing Farmer's Market displays Michigan products

The East Lansing Farmer’s Market hosted the annual Autumn Fest Oct. 9 next to Valley Court Park in East Lansing. Autumn Fest and the fall season give vendors like Sarah Tomac, a chance to show off their fall-associated products at the Farmer’s Market she said. Tomac grows more than 200 varieties of pumpkins and squashes at Tomac Pumpkin Patch and has been bringing a small sample to sell at the Farmer’s Market for about four years, she said.

The Associated Students of Michigan State University, or ASMSU, collects $18 from every student each semester as part of tuition. With a predicted enrollment of 94,621 for the 2016-2017 fiscal year, that leaves ASMSU with over $1.5 million to spend within their organization.
