For seven weeks the only consistency for MSU football was that no matter the scheme, the personnel nor the play calls, nothing would avoid another week of losing.
The lineups were announced, the national anthem played, and the puck drop signified another home game for the MSU hockey team at Munn Ice Arena. There, the team hosted Ferris State University in game one of the home-and-home series. The icers were unable to capitalize on their home portion though, as the Spartans fell 4-1 in the opener.
There is a paradox in sports. When everything looks evergreen, all of a sudden there is demolition. This paradox stole the minds of football fans when MSU football crashed — from a College Football Playoff team — to second to last in the Big Ten.
Ice hockey, one of the most popular sports not only in Michigan, but also throughout the world. There are 1,749,976 people registered with the International Ice Hockey Federation, or IIHF, according to the 2016 annual report. Along with the people who play ice hockey and aren’t registered with IIHF, there are spinoffs of the game. One of them is roller hockey.

On Saturday No. 15 MSU volleyball played against in-state rival No. 17 University of Michigan. It was an even matchup between the Wolverines and the Spartans went on to win in four sets (25-23, 28-30, 25-23, 25-22). With this win, MSU has now won six straight games.
Gary Trent Jr., son of former NBA player Gary Trent, selected the Blue Devils this evening over the Spartans and Bruins. Trent Jr. was believed to select Duke, according to 247sports, though head coach Tom Izzo recruited Trent Jr. extensively.
Spartan Stadium played host to a match-up that pitted the only two teams in the Big Ten without a conference win yet against each other. One came out hungry for that victory as MSU football (3-7, 1-6 Big Ten) cleaned their plate in an emphatic 49-0 beatdown of Rutgers (2-8, 0-7 Big Ten).
A chilly November afternoon welcomed MSU football (2-7, 0-6 Big Ten) into Spartan Stadium as they play host to Rutgers University (2-7, 0-6 Big Ten) as both teams fought for their first conference win of the year.
