Sparty's Cabin up for auction at MSU's Surplus Store

Sparty’s Cabin, an environmentally sustainable “tiny house” built on a trailer, is now up for auction through a closed bid on the MSU Surplus Store’s website. The house will be on display on the front lawn of the Justin S. Morrill Hall of Agriculture this Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to a press release from MSU Agriculture and Natural Resources.

PREVIEW: No. 13 MSU looks to upset No. 2 Kentucky in Champions Classic

MSU men's basketball take to Madison Square Garden in New York City for their next high profile battle against the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats in the Champions Classic. The Spartans hold a record of 3-2 in the Champions Classic, however hold a 3-11 record in Madison Square Garden, 3-7 under Head Coach Tom Izzo. MSU last met Kentucky in the Champions Classic in 2013, when the Spartans finished victorious 78-74, former guard Keith Appling led with 22 points.

On Nov. 9, America decided it's 45th president: Republican Donald J. Trump. To many pundits and polls, this came as a shock. Democrat Hillary Clinton polled ahead in nearly every major swing state for a majority of the election, and was poised to win the election by a landslide.

International relations senior Mary Machtel said that after traveling to Brazil for an exchange program, she learned much about the country but also about how important it was for her to step out of her comfort zone and make connections with others. “Making those connections, seeing the differences, seeing the similarities and how to work with those,” she said.

MSU outreach chapter holds concert for displacement community

People gathered Sunday night in Cook Recital Hall in the MSU College of Music, to listen to music and to hear the stories of people who have experienced displacement due to conflicts around the world, such as the Syrian Civil War. The person to organize it all, is president of the MSU chapter of the Refugee Outreach Kalamazoo, ROK, and psychology senior Sydney Conroy.

Veteran explains the true meaning of Veterans Day

"A U.S. veteran is someone who, at some point in their life, has written a blank check to the United States of America. This blank check forfeits whatever is needed, including the veteran’s life." Although he didn’t come up with the anonymous quote himself, assistant facilities manager and veteran Robert Hernandez said that it is the ideas of veterans like this that warrants them a thank you on Veterans Day.
