Electronic music artist uses trombone to express his talent

Students have many opportunities to showcase their talent with Open Mic Night, which is usually held every other Tuesday throughout the school year. MSU electrical engineering senior, Mike Giles is no stranger to the Open Mic Night stage as he has performed at the MSU Union main lounge this year on several different occasions.

University responds to Students Against Sweatshops letter

On Nov. 16, United Students Against Sweatshops marched with signs in hand to the Office of the President to deliver and read a letter requesting that the university reevaluate its relationships with the Worker Rights Consortium and Nike Athletics. The university responded to the student group’s request with a letter from Vice President for Auxiliary Enterprises Vennie Gore on Nov.

Eastwood Towne Center Max and Erma's closes

The Eastwood Towne Center Max and Erma's has closed. This restaurant’s closing is one in a long series of closings for Max and Erma’s in Michigan. In January 2015, eight locations across the state of Michigan, according to a Detroit Free Press article.

MSU looks to combat unauthorized advising

MSU has been trying to combat the unauthorized advising that has been taking place on campus. MSU students have been targets for this unauthorized advising, which goes against university policy. Students have been receiving emails from commercial firms that encourage them to meet with “advisers” from their company.

Improv players find friends through group

A group of 12 improv players had attendees grabbing their sides with laughter. Mechanical engineering senior Matthew Schomisch, the director of the Roial Improv Players, said he wants to bring laughter to a campus that has been on edge.

Spartan volleyball team preps for home NCAA Tournament game against Fairfield

No. 15 MSU volleyball will be hosting a few games of the first round of the NCAA tournament. As the 9th seed in the tournament, MSU will be playing Fairfield University for the first time. With hopes to continue to the second round of the NCAA tournament, MSU will have to come up with a game plan that allows it to beat Fairfield. The human highlight reel, freshman guard Miles Bridges came into his collegiate career the star of arguably Head Coach Tom Izzo’s best recruiting class. Bridges showed his value early, scoring 21 points with 7 rebounds in a thrilling loss against then-No. 10 Arizona. It’s no surprise the Spartans look to him to provide momentum and scoring.
