Former Spartan Morten Andersen becomes second kicker elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame

After a five-year wait, former MSU kicker Morten Andersen will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.  Andersen is the second kicker to ever earn a spot in Canton and will join LaDanian Tomlinson, Terrell Davis, Kurt Warner, Kenny Easley and current Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones as the Class of 2017.  Originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, Andersen came to MSU from Ben Davis high school in Indianapolis and played with the Spartans in 44 games from 1978-81 and named a First-team All-American in 1981.

New law protects landlords' rights to prohibit medical marijuana

On Jan. 10, Gov. Rick Snyder signed into law Senate Bill 72, or SB 72, protecting the rights of apartment managements and landlords to prohibit medical marijuana patients from growing cannabis plants within their rented space, potentially affecting future leasing agreements between students and leasing companies near campus.

Editorial: Trump's immigration ban

There is something to be said about a country that denies the huddled masses it beckons for on its foremost symbol of liberty. There is also something to be said for a school so rich in the flaunting of its diversity that it decides to do the “status quo” in protection of the international students entrusted to its care.
