He has also guided his team to a Big Ten record of 24 straight NCAA tournament appearances.
It remains to be seen how this class will round out, but if it continues to trend in the direction it has been, it has the potential to accomplish special things in East Lansing.
“They want a big leap from me, too,” Akins said. “They want me to be one of the best defenders on the team and one of the best offensive players on the team.”
