U-M rematch has postseason implications

The biggest rivalry in college hockey couldn’t be any bigger this time around for the No. 17 MSU hockey team. MSU ties Lake Superior State, loses extra point in shootout

Such was the case Saturday night for the No. 16 MSU hockey team as they squandered a third period lead yet again to close out the series with No. 19 Lake Superior State with a 2-2 tie, with the Lakers coming away with the shootout win for the extra point.

Last-minute goals push Spartans past Lake Superior State, 4-2

It looked like a bad bounce would add to the late-period scoring woes once again for the No. 16 MSU hockey team. On a puck clearing attempt by senior defenseman Matt Crandell, the puck bounced off Lake Superior State forward Kellan Lain and in to the net to tie up the game with a little more than three minutes to play, sending a wave of exasperation through Munn Ice Arena.

MSU hockey team strives for redemption

For the No. 16 MSU hockey team to have a chance at redemption, 95 percent won’t be enough. As the Spartans take the ice this weekend at Munn Ice Arena for a rematch with No. 19 Lake Superior State, the memory of the last series is ingrained in their minds.

Teddy bears donated to Sparrow

It took more than 15 minutes for the MSU hockey team to score in its game Saturday night against Northern Michigan, but when the Spartans did find the net, dozens of stuffed animals showered the ice.
