Tucker, MSU Football riding offseason momentum into the 2021 season

Tucker’s sense of urgency has been on full display throughout the 2021 offseason after the Spartans finished a mediocre 2-5 in 2020. The roster was not up to his standards in terms of talent in his eyes, which prompted Tucker to bring in 34 new faces via the 2021 recruiting class and the transfer portal to infuse talent into the roster immediately.

MSU football summer recruiting breakdown

After joining MSU in Feb. 2020, Tucker and his staff were handcuffed by the pandemic. They could not hold practice with the team over the summer and could not host recruits after Tucker’s first two weeks in East Lansing because of the pandemic recruiting dead period instituted by the NCAA.   This is Tucker’s first chance to leave his imprint on the program outside of just leadership.

MSU alumnus strives to honor historic legacy of university's 1965-66 football teams

 “I finally decided I'm just going to retire and I'm going to devote my attention to expanding awareness of Michigan State's leading role in college football integration because it's basically an unknown story,” MSU alumnus Tom Shanahan said. “And not even the university understands the magnitude of what these Duffy Daugherty teams of the 1960s meant to Michigan State and all of college football.”
