Matt Costello signs with Atlanta Hawks

One night was not enough for Michigan State graduating senior to achieve his NBA dreams. The following morning sufficed, however, as the Atlanta Hawks conducted their first business of the summer free agency when they signed Costello to a deal that will move him to Atlanta for the Summer League and training camp.

Chicago Bulls take Denzel Valentine

It's been a long road for the Lansing-native, but Denzel Valentine has finally reached the world's foremost basketball league. From the Lansing Sexton Big Reds to the Michigan State Spartans, Denzel Valentine will now slip on a Chicago Bulls jersey for the foreseeable future in the NBA.

It was a late night and a long wait for Deyonta Davis. For a projected lottery pick convinced to declare because of high draft expectations, it was hard to stay positive when the Boston Celtics selected him on what should have been a night laced with positive memories.

MSU men's basketball survives scare, defeats Minnesota, 69-61

The No. 1 MSU men's basketball team (14-1) bounced back from its first loss of the season to defeat the Minnesota Golden Gophers on the road, 69-61. In MSU's third consecutive game without senior MSU guard Denzel Valentine, fellow senior guard Bryn Forbes led the Spartans with 20 points while senior MSU forward Matt Costello finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Minnesota was led by 16 points from sophomore guard Nate Mason and 14 points and nine rebounds from freshman forward Jordan Murphy. Forbes scored seven of MSU's first nine points of the game to help the Spartans build an early 9-5 lead. However, by way of Murphy, the Gophers would take a 15-13 lead at the 11:48 mark of the first half.

Denzel Valentine out 2-3 weeks after undergoing surgery Monday morning

As a battle against Okland University looms on Tuesday for No. 1 ranked MSU, the team got dealt some devastating news Sunday night and Monday morning with the loss of senior forward and captain Denzel Valentine for 2-3 weeks after undergoing surgery Monday morning.  MSU head basketball coach Tom Izzo said Valentine was injured in practice Sunday night night

Clark Jr. shows progress for MSU basketball as he returns from foot injury

As fast of a start the undefeated and No. 1 MSU basketball team has gotten off to this season, it's been a bit of a slow one for MSU sophomore forward Marvin Clark Jr. After sitting out the first two games of the season while recovering from a foot surgery he had in September, Clark has struggled to get back to shape he was in last season. But his recent play has showed promise.

No. 1 MSU basketball wins big against Maryland Eastern Shore

The No. 1 MSU basketball team defeated the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks Wednesday night at Breslin Center, 78-35. The Spartans are now 10-0 on the season. Senior MSU guard Bryn Forbes finished with 14 points, five assists and three rebounds while senior guard Denzel Valentine chipped in with 11 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
