With so much building up to the start of the conference season, head coach Damon Rensing said Michigan State delivered their "most complete game" of the season as MSU (3-1) defeated Rutgers (0-4) 4-0 Friday afternoon.

Izzo thanks family, players and mentors in Hall of Fame induction
On Friday, MSU head basketball coach Tom Izzo along with former NBA stars Yao Ming, Sheryl Swoopes, Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal were inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Izzo — now headed into his twenty-second year at the helm of the Spartans — is known for giving enthusiastic and emotional speeches. Izzo said at the induction ceremony on Friday that he was very thankful for the honor and repeatedly thanked his players for helping him forge a Hall of Fame coaching career.

Spartans defeat Rutgers in home opener, 4-0
In the season's Big Ten season opener, MSU (3-1) defeated Rutgers (0-4) 4-0 on Friday afternoon. The Spartans had to wait for the breakthrough, as it took an entire first half of possession and eight shots before sophomore forward Ryan Sierakowski finally netted a free kick 21 seconds before the halftime. Then, the goals poured, with many second-half chances and conversions.

Sixth-year senior Kevin Williams is a battler. The Nebraska transfer lost both his 2011 and 2013 seasons to knee injuries and fought through a groin injury in 2015. Injuries have not kept him down, and now he plans on becoming an integral part of MSU’s defensive line rotation.
