Notre Dame defeats women's basketball at home, 71-63

On a cold and snowy November night, No. 14 MSU and No. 3 Notre Dame kept Breslin Center toasty for 40 minutes of basketball, but the Irish pulled away towards the end, securing a 71-63 victory. The two teams got out to a quick start, as MSU sophomore guard Tori Jankoska drilled two threes before the first media timeout.

Women's basketball's season will start on Sunday against Eastern Michigan

Heading into its first regular season game of the year on Sunday, MSU women’s basketball is still getting back into the swing of things. After playing a scrimmage against Toledo and an exhibition contest against Grand Valley State, head coach Suzy Merchant has noted that she sees room for improvement from her team. “To me, it’s about consistency right now,” Merchant said.

Slow second-half start dooms MSU women's basketball

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Entering halftime, No. 5 MSU couldn’t truly complain about where they were, only trailing No. 4 North Carolina by nine. The Spartans had committed 10 turnovers, shot an abysmal 32.1 percent from the field and leading scorer freshman guard Aerial Powers was scoreless after picking up two quick fouls.
