Men’s Basketball
For every goal the Spartans scored, it looked like the Irish had an answer — until they didn’t.
After defeating then-No. 1 Michigan in Detroit and hoisting the Iron D Trophy, No. 1 Michigan State hockey took a break from Big Ten competition during its final bye week of the season.
Each season of hockey brings together a new group. For Michigan State hockey, that group was a mix of newcomers and seasoned veterans, who currently sit at No. 1 in the nation.
Michigan State hockey entered its weekend series trailing Michigan by a point in the Big Ten standings, facing its final ranked conference opponent with the regular season title race tightening.
MSU Men’s Basketball:
Michigan State’s indoor track and field team turned the U-M Indoor Track and Field Building into a green-and-white showcase Saturday, winning nine events and recording multiple personal bests at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational, demonstrating its range across every discipline of the meet.
Following a conference-best performance of three goals and two assists, freshman forward Porter Martone was named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week.
The last name Bullough carries extra weight on the streets of East Lansing compared to most others. It represents Michigan State royalty, with three generations of Bullough men having worn Spartan green on the football field.
Big drop shots in rallies, big wins throughout the season and now, big national recognition.
Games every weekend. Practices three times a week from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Travel paid out of pocket. A typical college life abandoned. But it’s not all hard for members of MSU’s women’s club soccer team. There are lifelong friendships made, a rediscovery of their love for the game and — most importantly — a national championship secured.
