Students clean Roman coins during a MSU Classical Society meeting
The MSU Classical Society, led by president AJ Cousineau, hosts an ancient Roman coin cleaning event, allowing Michigan State students to clean real Roman coins for free and allowing them to keep them afterwards at Wells Hall in East Lansing, Mich., on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026. To clean the coins, students only needed dish soap, a toothbrush, a toothpick and a cotton swab in order to rub the dirt off the coin.
