After going into the half trailing 36-31, the Spartans came back in the second half, outscoring the Lakers 42-20, to win 73-56 on Nov. 1, 2022. Senior forward Malik Hall led the team in scoring with 15, followed by junior guard AJ Hoggard with 14, senior guard Tyson Walker with 12 and junior center Mady Sissoko with 11. Graduate student forward Joey Hauser also scored in the double-digits with 10.

Freshman played a key role in the victory with guard Tre Holloman and forward Jaxon Kohler both logging double-digit minutes; a trend that may continue while the injured sophomore guard Jaden Akins remains out and the lack of depth at the big man position remains prevalent.
