Kort Ian, a junior studying agribusiness and a Marine Corps veteran who served seven years, places an American flag at the Rock during a 9/11 memorial hosted by MSU Young Americans for Freedom and MSU College Republicans on Michigan State University’s campus in East Lansing, Mich., Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026. The organizations placed 2,977 flags, one for each victim killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
