The Michigan State women’s basketball team lost its fourth starter from last season after senior guard Jalyn Brown entered the transfer portal on Thursday, she told On3
Brown originally was set to graduate in 2025 and joined the Seattle Storm’s training camp in April. She acquired an additional year of eligibility after a Kentucky judge granted a temporary injunction in line with the NCAA’s new “five-for-five” eligibility rule.
Thursday was the final day for her to enter the portal after a seven-day window opened up on August 27th. Brown was one of 36 plaintiffs to be named in the lawsuit.
Under typical circumstances, the portal is open for a 15-day period after the national championship game. Due to the injunction, Brown was admitted to bypass standard transfer portal rules, allowing her to enter the portal for the third time in her career.
The 6 '1 guard provided a scoring punch for the Spartans, averaging 11.1 ppg (points per game) and a season-high of 21 against rival Michigan. In her two previous seasons, she averaged 17.3 and 18 ppg for Arizona State.
