With the launch of Spartan Ventures in July, the former Spartan Fund transformed into the Spartan Athletic Foundation, a nonprofit subsidiary of Spartan Ventures.

Students can participate with a $50 donation or by signing up for a $150 four-year subscription. The program also gives students "Spartan Priority Points," which continue to count toward their donor ranking after they graduate.

“The Collegiate is a new donation level focused solely on Michigan State students,” Mat Kanan, vice president of operations and associate athletics director for the Spartan Athletic Foundation, said. “In addition to introducing undergraduate and graduate students to the habit and importance of philanthropic giving, it provides benefits they can enjoy during their time on campus.”

A $50 donation gives a student two bonus Izzone or Munnster student section points. Those points determine seating locations at Breslin Center for MSU basketball and Munn Ice Arena for MSU hockey, respectively.

Students who choose the $150 option commit to four years and receive two bonus Izzone or Munnster points each year, for a total of eight points over the commitment.

Collegiate participants also receive 10 "Spartan Priority Points" for each year they donate. Those points are used when determining seating priority at MSU athletic venues and neutral sites during postseason events.

Kanan said the 10 Spartan Priority Points students receive for each year they participate are equivalent to the points associated with a $1,000 donation.
