Michigan State Athletics revealed plans to add renovated training spaces in Jenison Fieldhouse.
The facility is expected to be finished before the 2027-2028 MSU wrestling season.
The facility plan introduces major upgrades for MSU wrestling, including a new practice space, locker room, an athletic training room, cardio area and a coaches' office. Wrestling head coach Roger Chandler said the renovations will give the team the resources needed to thrive.
“I’m excited for our wrestlers to have both their practice space and all of their resources in one centralized location,” said Chandler. “This renovation is going to be a game-changer for us, and our guys are excited to start training in the new space.”
This renovation specifically gives the team more mat space, a dedicated space for team athletic trainer Brett Penning, televisions for reviewing film, a mezzanine level for cardio equipment, a student-athlete fueling nutrition station and equipment and laundry services.
MSU is 69-81 over the past ten years under Chandler. Over its history, MSU wrestling has won eight Big Ten Team titles, but hasn't been back since 1972.
