“Most importantly, I want to win,” Edwards said at Wednesday’s football media availability. “I want to win a lot of games here. I want to win a National Championship. I want to win a Big Ten Championship. I want to be the best running back in the country.”

Heading into the season, Edwards was ranked the fourth-highest-rated transfer to arrive in East Lansing by 247Sports, raising expectations for his production.

But reaching that production will require more than just individual talent, and Edwards understands the importance of his support system in reaching his full potential.

“I’m just trying to do small things, and just all of us come together as a group, so we all play as one unit,” Edwards said. “And without them, I'm nothing.”

A major part of replicating his 1,240-yard and 15-touchdown campaign will be the offensive line in front of him. Throughout fall camp, Edwards has stressed the value of building relationships with his blockers any chance he gets.

While Edwards’ confidence in his line remains strong, the new-look unit needs to take a significant jump from the 2025 season. MSU head coach Pat Fitzgerald has emphasized the importance of the trenches, especially after the team tied for the fourth-most tackles for loss allowed on average in all of FBS.

Lucky for Edwards, a familiar friend decided to make the process a bit easier.

Redshirt senior offensive lineman Ben Murawski also joined the Green and White this offseason after transferring from UConn. 

Murawski was named to the Outland Trophy watch list earlier this month, which recognizes the nation’s top interior offensive lineman. The pair will already come with some built-up chemistry after each spending the last four years together with the Huskies.

“I love Ben,” Edwards said. “You know, obviously, I’ve known him for a very long time. You know, ever since I got into my freshman year, so I’ve seen the lows and I've seen the highs. He’s seen my lows and my highs. So you know, it's just really, it's a good connection that we have.”

Although the offensive line is a critical part of Edwards’ success, his individual ability to run the football, keep drives alive and power through tackles will ultimately determine his impact in 2026.

“I can do everything you ask me to do,” Edwards said. “I can catch the ball out of the backfield. I can run the football. If you need me to pass block, I'm really good at that. So I mean, whatever you need me to do, I'm gonna do my best, and I'm gonna give you my best effort.”

Edwards’ versatility could make him a valuable piece of this Spartan offense, but his playmaking ability won’t be the only thing that could make him stand out.

If Edwards gets his way — some of that playmaking ability will come with a little extra flair.

“I like dancing,” Edwards said. “I like having moments to myself, and it's just a spotlight. I just think I’m a good dancer. In my opinion, I'm a good dancer.”

Spartan Nation will have plenty of chances to be the judge of that, but until then, Edwards is focused on doing what he came to East Lansing to do — win.
