Michigan State University graduate Caleb Bond earned a spot in the 2026 USGA U.S. Amateur Championship, just a few months after concluding his career as a Spartan.
He will compete in a field of 312 golfers at the U.S. Amateur Championship, held Aug. 10-16 at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
The Williamston native secured his place in the championship at Rivermont Golf Club on Jul. 20 after he shot a three-under-par 67. Bond finished fourth among 15 competitors, seizing a spot in one of golf’s most prestigious amateur tournaments.
His qualification comes after a remarkable four-year collegiate career. Bond’s senior-season scoring average of 71.09 ranks second all-time in MSU’s men’s golf history, earning him All-Big Ten Second Team and All-Region honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Before developing his game as a Spartan, Bond proved his composure and distinguished himself at Ferris State. He finished ninth at the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championship, helping lead the Bulldogs to a Division II title.
Bond’s appearance in the U.S. Amateur marks the next step in his golf career following his departure from East Lansing.
Caleb Bond will be paired with High Point senior James Hassell and Oklahoma State redshirt freshman Collin Bond, with the group set to tee off at 1:40 p.m. EST.
