After making history by becoming the ninth Michigan State women's basketball player ever drafted in the WNBA Draft, senior forward Grace VanSlooten won't be the only Spartan in Seattle.
Senior guard Jalyn Brown has been invited to the Seattle Storm's training camp, where she will join VanSlooten and battle for a roster spot heading into the upcoming season.
"Let's do this," Brown posted on her Instagram story following the news.
From starting the season as an effective sixth man off the bench to becoming a key part of the starting lineup, Brown's play — headlined by her efficient scoring — has earned her a shot at the WNBA.
Her ability to score has been apparent since her sophomore season at Arizona State, where she averaged 17.3 points per game, followed by a junior season where she averaged 18 before entering the transfer portal.
In East Lansing, her scoring output dropped to just 11.1 ppg, but her efficiency skyrocketed — shooting 52% from the field and 41% from three while turning the ball over just 1.9 times per contest.
The 6-foot-1 guard succeeded in every role she was given this past season, and her adaptability was a difference-maker that helped lead to a special season with the Spartans, who were just a few plays away from a Sweet 16 appearance.
