A day after freshman guard Jordan Ode and sophomore forward Juliann Woodard announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal, another Michigan State women's basketball player announced she would be joining them.

Sophomore forward Inés Sotelo will be entering the portal with two years of eligibility remaining, having spent the past two seasons in East Lansing.

Last season, Sotelo made the trek from Spain to play college basketball at MSU and played in all 32 games, starting in eight. This year, an early-season foot injury kept her off the floor for the opening nine games, but once she returned, she played in all 23 remaining games, starting in all but three.

She averaged 24 minutes per contest while putting up 6.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. But her decision to enter the portal leaves an impact much greater than her stats show — the Spartans now have just one forward currently on the roster.

Redshirt senior Isaline Alexander stands alone. Her return for a sixth year has yet to be confirmed, though it's expected — she appeared in just three games during the 2023-24 season before missing the 2024-25 campaign entirely.

As of right now, Alexander will be the only familiar face at forward in an MSU uniform. Five-star recruit and Michigan Miss Basketball winner Lilly Williams will be joining the squad, but depth is still needed.

Now, just six players from last season's roster are set to return—not including senior guard Theryn Hallock, whose return is still undecided—with Williams as the lone incoming high school recruit. Put simply, the Spartans will need to attack the transfer portal aggressively to fill starting positions and build depth, particularly among the forwards.
