Trends defining Valentine's Day fashion in 2026

February 12, 2026

Valentine’s Day has become one of the most influential holidays within the fashion industry. Many brands take advantage of the season of love, offering limited-time collections that weave traditional Valentine’s Day motifs together with current trends. This year is no different, with it being arguably one of the pinkest seasons yet.

Traditionally, this time of year, we see a lot of heart-shaped items and patterns, as well as different shades of pink, red and white. The specific shades of the colors depend on what is currently trending; right now, a lot of baby pink and cherry red can be seen.

Since spring of 2025, baby pink has been dominating because of its versatility. Shoppers are leaning into traditional colors when picking out their Valentine’s Day outfits. Many shoppers see sustainability as a priority right now. There is a high demand for fashion that can be worn more than one day of the year. This has caused iconic Valentine’s Day themes to merge with the hottest trends.

Polka dots are a top pattern this season. They have found a place among the hearts and can be seen primarily on dresses or tops. That’s not the only pattern that has been adopted this year. Although it’s not as popular as it once was, cheetah print is still taking up space. These two patterns have been altered to include the season's colors or to feature a heart design.

Since February is one of the snowier months of the year, fabrics like silks, leather and lace are especially popular. These materials have been known to add texture and contrast to an outfit while keeping the romantic feelings surrounding the holiday. Pairing an oversized leather jacket with a soft pink lace top and a black mini skirt is the perfect base to an on-trend Valentine's Day outfit.

For shoes, the pointed kitten heels are still holding strong as the perfect winter heel, with leather boots as a close second.

As always, an outfit wouldn’t be complete without matching accessories, and there is a lot of room for creativity this month. Gold jewelry and bag charms are the hardware of the season because of how well they pair with the pinks and reds. As expected, a lot of heart jewelry can be seen everywhere right now as it is the perfect way to tie a bit of holiday cheer into an outfit. This year specifically, there have been a lot of conversation hearts and cherries being worked into accessories like charm bracelets and bag charms.

During this time of year, lots of brands create a special Valentine's Day collection. Shoe brands were among the first to kick off this tradition, with brands like UGGS, Nike and Converse all coming out with limited edition themed shoes. Many clothing brands like White Fox, Comfrt and American Eagle have followed suit by crafting a perfect Valentine's Day line.

Valentine’s Day fashion will continue to evolve and conform to the current fashion trends for the years to come. Hearts, pink tones, and themed collections will remain staples of the season.
