MSU sophomore guard Divine Ugochukwu will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, head coach Tom Izzo said at a media availability on Friday.
Ugochukwu will have foot surgery next week, Izzo said. The Miami transfer with two years of eligibility remaining started 12 straight games for MSU before Jordan Scott earned his first start against Minnesota.
Ugochukwu suffered the injury during Wednesday’s loss to the Gophers and missed most of the game.
Izzo said Ugochukwu won’t be back until after the season is over.
“I'm not sure when he’ll be ready to go,” Izzo said. “So, for us, we need to regroup and get back on the floor. We have a challenge ahead of us on Saturday with Illinois. They might bring something completely different to the table.”
MSU will tip off against Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 8:00 p.m. at home in a top 10 matchup.
