Rapper DaBaby is set to perform at Grewal Hall at 224 on Oct. 11, as part of a two-concert experience on the same night for students and community members.

DaBaby was scheduled to perform at Michigan State University in July at the MSU Beta Theta Pi fraternity house, but the original event was rescheduled due to safety concerns.

"This event is actually a rescheduled event from a previous event that we had," University of Michigan senior and co-founder of RushLink Zachary Joelson said. "It is now rescheduled for October 11 at Grewal Hall, which is kind of the only real venue in the area that can hold an event like what we're looking to do."

"Every single safety precaution has been taken," Joelson said. RushLink is working directly with the city and Grewal "to make sure it’s done extremely well" and "there's nothing to be concerned about from a safety perspective."

"Our goal, and the reason we started this company, was to put on fun and safe events for students," Joelson said.

Biology sophomore Pargol Latif said she bought tickets through LineLeap for the original concert.

"I knew about it, I think, in the summer," Latif said. "Someone posted it somewhere and I was reading about it, and I was like, ‘Oh, I have to go.'"

When she found out the concert was canceled, she asked for a refund and received it. When the new show was announced, she bought tickets for the rescheduled show.

Latif, who's going to the concert with a friend, said she’s excited.

"Even though it’s not on campus, I feel like it’s gonna mostly be like MSU students, and I feel like it’s gonna be really fun," she said.

Joelson and co-founder of RushLink and a senior at U-M Gavin Schwartz said that when they saw the hefty demand for the show they didn’t want to take that away.

"We really tried everything we could to make that show happen," they said. "We were not able to do it safely, so we had to postpone it."

Communicative sciences and disorders sophomore Kate Graydon said a friend bought the tickets for her and a group of their friends in July. Instead of a refund, Graydon said her friend renewed her previously purchased tickets.

“I’m not sure exactly what she did, but somehow the tickets were back," Graydon said.

Graydon does not share Latif's excitement. She was ready for the event to be in August, but with the location change, she isn’t sure how she and her friends are going to get there.

"It’s kind of far which is kind of a bummer to me," Graydon said.

According to Joelson and Schwartz, the reactions to the rescheduled event have been very good overall, but "there’s always going to be people who are worried."

"He (DaBaby) knows how to put a show on," Joelson and Schwartz said.

DaBaby will perform at Grewal for the first show at 7 p.m. and the second at 10:30 p.m. Each event requires attendees to buy tickets for specific shows. The 7 p.m. show is sold out. As of publication, tickets for the 10:30 p.m. show are on sale through RushLink's Instagram.
