There were multiple cases of larceny, disorderly conduct, assault and sexual assault on campus last week. An arrest was also made at the Michigan State University library, and drone pilots were given a verbal warning for violating a university ordinance.
The incidents were disclosed by MSU under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, which requires universities to publicly list reported criminal offenses. Listed below are notable entries.
The State News has filed Freedom of Information Act requests for police reports of notable incidents. Under state law, MSU has three weeks to respond.
Tuesday, Sept. 9
There was a case of extortion at Williams Hall around 12 a.m.
A motor vehicle theft was reported at Ramp 4, the parking lot at the Kellogg Center around 9:45 a.m.
Three cases of larceny, specifically theft from a building, were reported that day. Two occurred Tuesday: One at Bryan Hall and another at Case Hall. A third report of larceny was made Tuesday, but it occurred on Sept. 5 at Mayo Hall.
A simple assault occurred in McDonell Hall and was reported the next day.
Wednesday, Sept. 10
On Wednesday, there was a mandatory report of fondling that occurred on Sept. 4 at the Fairchild Theatre.
Two non-aggravated assaults were reported, one of which occurred on Sept. 6 at Jenison Fieldhouse, and the other on Sept. 10 at Ramp 4.
A stalking incident occurred at 5 p.m. at McDonnell Hall, and was reported the next day.
Thursday, Sept. 11
Three incidents were reported at the MSU Library on Thursday, around 11 a.m.: one involving fraud, one involving stolen property, and one resulting in an arrest on an outstanding warrant.
MSU Deputy Chief of Police Chris Rozman said the department received a call from an individual standing in front of the library who claimed to have had their phone stolen. MSU police officers later tracked down the stolen phone in Lansing, which led to an arrest.
Two forced entry burglaries at the Spartan Village Apartments were reported this day. One occurred the same day, while the other reportedly happened on Sept. 8.
Friday, Sept. 12
A sex offense occurred at the Chemistry Building at 5:15 p.m.
Trespassing occurred at the MSU Union at 8:56 p.m.
Disorderly assemblages or misconduct reportedly happened at Yakeley Hall at 11 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 13
An unmanned aircraft was reported on campus at 8 a.m. Rozman said six drones were on campus, which violates the university’s ordinance. The six pilots were given a verbal warning.
Three incidents were reported at the Spartan Stadium: one involving fraud, one involving disorderly assemblages or misconduct and one involving larceny.
Sunday, Sept. 14
Wire fraud was reported at Holmes Hall.
A motor vehicle theft took place at 1885 Place at 12 a.m.
Assault and battery was reported at Wilson Hall at around 11 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 15
Two cases of larceny were reported that day: one at Hubbard Hall, while the other took place at the Small Animal Clinic.
Tuesday, Sept. 16
Larceny was reported at Wells Hall at 8:50 a.m.
