Michigan State University hockey head coach Adam Nightingale will serve as an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2024-25 IIHF Men’s World Championship, set to take place from May 9 to 25 in Herning, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden.
Nightingale’s ties to USA Hockey run deep. He helped guide the U.S. to a silver medal at the 2022 IIHF U18 World Championship and served as an assistant coach during the team’s bronze medal finish at the 2021 IIHF Men’s World Championship.
Since taking over his alma mater in 2022, Nightingale has led Michigan State to back-to-back Big Ten regular season and tournament championships, along with two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Prior to MSU, he served as head coach of the U.S. National Team Development Program from 2020 to 2022.
At the 2024 Men’s World Championship, the United States finished fifth with a 5-0-1-2 record and featured MSU sophomore goaltender Trey Augustine on the roster. Team USA will open pre-tournament play on Sunday, May 4, against Germany in Dusseldorf. Round-robin action begins Friday, May 9. All games will stream on NHL Network.
