No. 8 Michigan State University gymnastics advanced to the 2025 NCAA Championships semifinals for the first time since 1988, placing second with a score of 198.000 in the regional final.

The Spartans will compete in the semifinals on Thursday, April 17, at 9 p.m. in Fort Worth, Texas. The side will face No. 1 LSU, No. 4 Utah and No. 5 UCLA in the evening session.

MSU gymnastics head coach Mike Rowe said the team still has more to show and is ready to continue its postseason push.

“They know they have more fuel in the tank, they are going to surprise some people at nationals,” Rowe said. “They are not done.”

MSU has already faced LSU and UCLA this season. The Spartans finished second to LSU in the regional final, 198.050 to 198.000. They’ve met UCLA twice — once in the regular season, when the Bruins edged them 197.300–197.200 on Feb. 1, and again at the Big Ten Championships, where MSU took second behind UCLA, 198.450–198.150. The Spartans are 0-2 against Utah this postseason, with losses in both the second round and the regional final.

MSU gymnastics will compete in the NCAA Championships on Thursday, April 17, at 5 p.m. ET. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+ and aired on ESPN2.
