Michigan State University men’s basketball was selected as the No. 2 seed in the South Region of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, commonly known as March Madness.
MSU’s first matchup will be against No. 15 Bryant University. The two teams will play on Friday, March 21 in Cleveland, Ohio at Rocket Arena — home of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
If the Spartans beat Bryant, they will play either No. 7 Marquette or No. 10 New Mexico. Other notable teams in the region include the No. 1 overall seed, Auburn, and Iowa State, the No. 3 seed in the South Region.
MSU finished the regular season with a 26-5 overall record and a 17-3 conference record, winning the Big Ten regular season title for the first time since 2020. In the Big Ten Tournament, the Spartans beat Oregon, 74-64, in the quarterfinals, but fell to Wisconsin, 77-74, in the semifinals.
Not only is this MSU's 27th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Tom Izzo, but it's also the team's highest seed in the tournament since the 2018-19 season where the No. 2 Spartans lost in the Final Four to No. 3 Texas Tech after beating the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils — one of MSU’s most revered March Madness wins.
No. 2 MSU and No. 15 Bryant will tip off at 10 p.m. on Friday, March 21 at Rocket Arena. TBS will air the game.
