MSU hockey's Big Ten season is underway and the Spartans are continuing their hot start amidst a seven-game winning streak.

After their second straight sweep in Big Ten play this past weekend, the Spartans jumped to No. 2 in the USCHO polls, ahead of conference opponent Minnesota and powerhouse Boston College, with which MSU split an October series in East Lansing.

In addition to being placed among the top two teams in the country, MSU claimed a Big Ten Star of the Week with freshman forward Shane Vansaghi claiming the Third Star spot.

Vansaghi, now the only Spartan to have at least one point in every single conference matchup thus far in the season, has two goals and eight assists and tallied half those points against Notre Dame last weekend.

The 6-foot-2 forward was the one to get MSU rolling on Saturday, able to get in front of Notre Dame blue-liners for an early goal. Vansaghi tallied an assist later in the night.

MSU heads to Plymouth, Michigan for a 7 p.m. matchup on Thursday, Nov. 21 against the U.S. National Team Development Program in an exhibition game.
