Former Spartan volleyball middle blocker Amani McArthur signed with the Vegas Thrill, a team in the Pro Volleyball Federation, and will be a part of the 2024 season. McArthur was named to the Vegas Thrill's practice squad on Monday after a rigorous series of practice and cuts.
The Pro Volleyball Federation was founded in 2022 and will be holding its very first season in 2024. The league is composed of seven teams, and now has added a Spartan to its group of talent.
McArthur is now the 23rd Spartan volleyball player of all-time to earn a professional contract, and is the second under head coach Leah Johnson.
The Michigan State University volleyball X/Twitter account posted a tribute to McArthur and her being drafted to go professional.

The 6'3" fifth-year middle blocker from Kennesaw, Georgia was a presence for the Spartans after playing much of her collegiate career at Charlotte from 2019 to 2022. In her singular but impactful season at Michigan State, McArthur was picked on the Second Team All-Big Ten and a force in the middle for a Spartan team that won 17 games last season.
McArthur had 28 solo blocks, 116 total blocks and 88 block assists, a team leader in all of those categories. She also finished 10th in the Big Ten conference in hitting percentage at .346.
Per Michigan State, McArthur expressed her gratitude and is committed to "learning and getting better every day."
Michigan State head volleyball coach Leah Johnson also expressed how proud she and the school are of McArthur, as she said McArthur "left a lasting impression on our program."
