Coming off of a split weekend at Munn against Penn State — where the Spartans tied the first night and lost the extra point by slipping in the shootout, then played dominantly in game two taking home a 5-3 win — the team was looking for another move in the national polls.
The team kept their stable No. 11 ranking for the second consecutive week in both the USCHO polls and the USA Hockey polls. However, the Spartans did not land a Big Ten Star of the week.
The Spartans have crept past the University of Michigan for the first time this season, as they are now seated at No. 12 after a tie and loss to Minnesota.
Another important shift for the Spartans was that the No. 1 spot was taken by the Wisconsin Badgers, the Spartans' upcoming weekend opponents.
