The Spartan community is hurting and healing this week, and there are many who need extra support. Started by families and community members, here are some fundraisers to support those directly affected by the Michigan State University shooting Monday night.

Funds for the Family of Guadalupe Huapilla-Perez GoFundMe

Guadalupe Huapilla-Perez, or "Lupe," as her sister calls her, is a hospitality business junior who is currently in critical condition at Sparrow Hospital after she was injured during the shooting Monday night.

Huapilla-Perez's sister, Selena Huapilla-Perez, organized this GoFundMe page to raise money for hospital bills and any other expenses that may come with her recovery.

According to the GoFundMe page, Huapilla-Perez’s family are migrant workers who have traveled from Florida away from home and work to be with her during her time of need.

“As a migrant family from South Florida, we immediately traveled to Michigan to be with Lupe and are now eyeing costs that will further burden us at this incredibly difficult time,” Selena Huapilla-Perez said on the fundraiser page. “She is a long way from returning to us as she was. Being away from home, our family will be unable to work while monthly bills will continue to mount.”

Brian Fraser GoFundMe

Brian Fraser was a business sophomore at Michigan State and the president of Phi Delta Theta.

Brian was loved by many, and the GoFundMe for him and his family during their time of need was organized by a group of his good friends from school.

“Brian is one of the sweetest and most genuine people out there, he never fails to make you smile,” the GoFundMe page said. “Please consider donating to help Brian and his family through this hard time.”

Spartan Strong Fund

The Spartan Strong Fund will be used for addressing any immediate changes needed at MSU, such as security upgrades and mental health support for students, staff and faculty.

“During tragic events, Spartans rally to ensure our campus and community have the resources necessary to provide for those in need,” the fund's website said. “As the MSU community comes together to assist one another, learn more about how you can financially support the university with numerous challenges surrounding the evolving crisis.”

Memorial for Arielle Anderson GoFundMe

Arielle Anderson was a junior who hoped become a surgeon after her time at MSU.

Anderson's uncle, Timothy Davis, created a GoFundMe to raise money for her memorial and family.

"We appreciate any donations and all the love and support during this time. Thank you again and be blessed," Davis said.

Aimee Barajas dispatcher during MSU shooting GoFundMe

Aimee Barajas was the 911 dispatcher on the night of the shooting on Michigan State’s campus.

Barajas was an integral part of assisting the Spartan community in the worst of times, and a community member named David organized the fundraiser for the community to show support for the woman working behind the scenes.

“I am doing this in hopes to change someone's life and to make her feel appreciated the way she deserves to be,” David said. “The way she coordinated law enforcement was nothing short of spectacular. Please, if we all come together and donate a little to show our appreciation, it could make a huge difference in her life.”
