In a press conference following Michigan State’s 64-63 loss to Purdue, Head Coach Tom Izzo revealed that senior forward Malik Hall will miss an undisclosed amount of time after re-injuring his left foot against Illinois

"Specialists just looked at it today," Izzo said. "Nothing looks good in the immediate future, but whether it's for the full year or not, we don't know."

Hall suffered the injury in the second half against the Fighting Illini, visibly limping and exiting the game early

Despite missing one of its best players, Michigan State fought with tenacity against the No. 3 Boilermakers, bringing it down to the very last shot of the game.

"We were trying to win the game for him (Hall), because he's crushed," Izzo said

Hall first hurt his foot back in November, suffering a stress reaction right before the Phil Knight Invitational Tournament. He missed the latter half of the month to recover. He returned to the court on Nov. 30, 2022, playing just 12 minutes against Buffalo. Hall participated in just five games before re-injuring his foot in Champaign

During his short stint back in the lineup, Hall played a more limited role, coming off the bench and playing fewer minutes. However, even with a less prominent role, Hall shined, reaching double-digits twice and consistently providing a strong defensive presence. Just last week, he 15 points in Michigan State's win over Michigan

With Hall out of the lineup, the Spartans have just two official forwards on the roster, freshman Jaxon Kohler and graduate senior Joey Hauser.
