After a rather tumultuous regular season, the offseason is officially kicking-off for Michigan State University football. With the three-day early signing period beginning on December 21, the Spartans will welcome the first of their 2023 recruiting class in the coming days.

The early signing period offers a chance for recruits to sign their letters of intent a few months before the traditional February date.

MSU currently has 13 hard commits for the 2023 class. Eight of those recruits are four-stars, topped by incoming freshman defensive end Bai Jobe out of Oklahoma.

Overall, Michigan State’s current 2023 recruiting class is ranked 23rd in the nation according to 247Sports (25 in the composite rankings). That’s ranked slightly higher than last year’s class, which ranked 26 overall (23 in composite rankings).

There are still a few recruits that have yet to announce their decision. Michigan State will have its eyes on incoming freshmen defensive lineman Ashton Porter from Texas, offensive lineman Keyshawn Blackstock and a few other recruits that have been extended offers.

Mel Tucker and the recruiting staff are certain to also look towards the portal during this period, so be sure to follow along with the State News’ coverage of MSU’s transfers
