Interim president Woodruff to lead first board meeting, interim provost to be appointed

Interim president Teresa Woodruff will lead her first Board of Trustees meeting on Friday, Dec. 16. Without a November meeting, the last time the board met was to appoint Woodruff as interim president. 

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. in room 401 of the Hannah Administration Building and will also be available to watch on live stream. Public participation will occur at the end of the meeting, following the chairperson’s report, trustee comments and liaison report.

After Woodruff gives the president’s report, the board will be asked to approve the Gift, Grant and Contract report for Aug. 12 through Nov. 14. The total value of the report is $210,792,473 with 749 gifts, grants and contracts, 49 consignment, or non-cash, gifts.

Next, professor of voice Mark Rucker and Vocal Arts Outreach Program coordinator Sadie Rucker will give a presentation titled “Hold Out Your Light.”

The Personnel Actions and Information reports will be given by Senior Associate Provost and economics professor Thomas Jeitschko. The actions include the approval of Jeitschko’s appointment to Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective Nov. 4.

In addition to appointing Jeitschko as interim provost, the board will be asked to approve three tenure appointments for plant biology professor Andrea Case, plant, soil and microbial sciences professor Chris Blackwood and chemical engineering and material sciences professor Michael Hickner.

Finally, the audit, risk and compliance committee will recommend the approval of contracts with Akeila Bio, LLC, Brinter, Inc.,  EeroQ, Inc., Motion Grazer AI and MSU Weed Science Program research assistant Gary Powell.
