LS Mason Arnold
Ohio State > Michigan State
Mason Arnold is a former walk-on from Ohio State that spent two years with the Buckeyes, although he did not play. Wednesday afternoon, redshirt senior running back Elijah Collins entered the transfer portal. The fan favorite running back's time at Michigan State was a roller coaster ride, with peaks and troughs aplenty.
After a breakout redshirt freshman season in which Collins earned 988 rushing yards and five touchdowns, his usage dropped precipitously in 2020. With the new coaching staff, Collins had just 41 rushing attempts in 2020, failing to reach 100 yards. While he had over 100 yards the following season, Collins struggled with an injury in the midst of the season, missing five games.
He finished with just 18 rushing attempts. Despite a tough couple seasons, Collins decided to stick with the program heading into 2022. While he didn't quite reach the heights of his redshirt freshman season, Collins carved out a nice role with the Spartans in 2022, especially as the season progressed.
